Business Analytics

What I Do

I research and design AI frameworks that enhance optimization and practical usefulness for businesses and individuals. My work includes:

  • Creating novel reasoning frameworks for better incorporation of individual user constraints and heuristics. A paper is currently under review by AAAI.

  • Designing AI systems that represent the reasoning and communication styles of each unique individual or organization.

  • Extracting insight from complex datasets by running statistical and machine learning models, and using analytical tools such as Snowflake, Posit Cloud, and other Business Intelligence platforms.

  • Building and deploying a full-stack AI-powered app that provides self-discovery insights for users.

I am currently completing my Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) at California State University Channel Islands.

Current Projects

Graduate Assistant in AI Research

  • Researched novel constraint optimization theory and deployed it in an AI prototype, recognized for generating responses with high empathy, insight, and economy of expression.

  • Maintained ongoing knowledge of the latest developments in AI platforms and tools.

  • Produced the bimonthly "Channeling AI" campus newsletter.

  • Participated in the regional business analytics community, attending conferences, datathons, and special events involving AI for businesses.

Founder, AI prototype

  • Built and deployed a full-stack AI system (including frontend, backend, UX, and reasoning engine), as a professional self-discovery and communication coach.

  • Used software design and development tools, including Claude Code, Figma, Render, VS Code, GitHub, and Obsidian.

Past Projects

AI Ethics Board member

  • Advised on ethical implementation of AI in academic settings in regular board meetings.

  • Contributed to development of white papers on AI implementation topics.

AI Consultant Training Program for Small Business Advisors (Google.org, the Economic Development Collaborative, and the Small Business Development Center)

  • Trained an AI model to replicate the rhetorical and reasoning style of an SBDC business advisor.

  • Captured and emulated the heuristics underlying the advisor's consulting approach using HeuriSight and Protobots.

  • Enhanced advisor's ability to support small business clients.

How My Background Shapes My Approach to AI

My studies in rhetoric, environmental science, business administration, and business analytics give me a multidisciplinary approach that assists with effective AI use and research.

  • My MBA provided a comprehensive overview of business strategy, leadership, operations, and finance. The business principles in this degree complement the STEM skills from my MSBA, providing a broad background for helping companies increase their performance and add value for customers.

  • Rhetoric introduced me to structural reasoning strategies from this academic discipline dating back to Ancient Greece. I use it as a framework to organize anything--knowledge, arguments, computer code, or even fiction--into a coherent whole. This structure drives my approach to AI systems design, as well as persuasive business communication.

  • Ecology gave me an appreciation for the need to base environmental policy on science. I learned to research and analyze complex systems using the scientific method. I apply the scientific research and writing principles I learned to my current development of AI theories and papers.
