Business Analytics

What I Do

I apply AI to business problems, including:

  • Designing AI systems to represent professionals and companies.

  • Running statistical and machine learning models to analyze datasets.

  • Creating an AI-powered app that provides self-discovery insights for users, demonstrating a standard of empathy and epistemic humility not found in current LLMs.

I am currently working on my Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) at California State University Channel Islands, where I work with modern AI and data analytics tools, including Python, SQL, and VS Code.

Current Projects

Graduate Assistant in AI Research

  • Researching AI implementation on campus.

  • Producing a bimonthly campus newsletter called "Channeling AI."

  • Developing custom ChatGPT models.

  • Attending special events and conferences on AI for businesses.

Founder, Rhetorical (tryrhetorical.com)

  • Created a prototype of an AI-powered professional self-discovery and communication coach.

  • Built the full product architecture (frontend, backend, UX, and reasoning engine) and deployed it publicly for testing.

  • Used software design and development tools, including Claude Code, Figma, Render, VS Code, GitHub, and Obsidian.

Past Projects

AI Ethics Board (member)

  • Participating in triweekly board meetings.

  • Applying knowledge of AI to engage in discourse about its ethical use.

  • Contributing to development of white papers on topics pertinent to AI implementation on campus.

AI Consultant Training Program for Small Business Advisors (Google.org, the Economic Development Collaborative, and the Small Business Development Center)

  • Applied AI modeling and training skills to replicate the rhetorical and reasoning style of an SBDC business advisor.

  • Leveraged the applications HeuriSight and Protobots to capture and emulate the heuristics underlying the advisor's consulting approach.

  • Enhanced advisor's ability to support small business clients.

How My Background Shapes My Approach to AI

My studies in rhetoric, environmental science, business administration, and business analytics give me a multidisciplinary lens that strengthens my AI work.

  • My MBA gave me a background in principles of business strategy, leadership, operations, and finance. The intersection of business intuition from this degree and STEM skills from my MSBA give me a strong foundation, with which to help companies strategize optimal business models and practices.

  • Rhetoric taught me structural reasoning strategies from an academic field dating from Ancient Greece. This provided a framework for organizing anything--whether knowledge, ideas, arguments, or even fiction--into an understandable whole. The communicative precision it instilled maps onto the skills needed to design and operate effective AI systems.

  • Ecology helped me understand science-based ways to protect the environment, and how to research and analyze complex systems using the scientific method. Like rhetoric, this offers another form of structure, providing a foundation for the value I extract from AI.
