Sustainability

I have always been interested in helping protect the environment, ecosystems, and wildlife for the good of both the planet and human economics and wellbeing. My four degrees offer a unique perspective on how to approach sustainability, joining my double-major in Ecology and Rhetoric at U.C. Berkeley with my MBA and current MSBA studies at CSUCI. This gives me hard STEM skills that complement a broader understanding of business psychology, communications, and operations. I am interested in finding ways AI could assist in better understanding sustainability data, to shed light on issues such as climate change, deforestation, ESG compliance, and possibly human-animal communication.

My sustainability work background includes a role as an Environmental Consultant in Los Angeles, advising industrial clients on how to comply with environmental regulations. I performed internal audits of their facilities to ensure sustainability in their production operations; completed air and water pollution reporting with local, state, and federal agencies; assisted clients in obtaining proper permits for equipment that emitted air contaminants; and maintained a working knowledge of relevant laws, such as the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act. I also provided Environmental Health and Safety trainings to employees at client companies.

through their blog, website, and social media. I also performed

ecology-related research for the Collections department at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. I synthesized information to create signage and Canva posters for exhibits about topics including Native American canoeing to the Channel Islands off the Ventura County coast, climate change and the maritime industry, and the health and environmental benefits of aquaculture. Finally, throughout my time as an MBA student, I chose to write papers and presentations based on my environmental interests, with topics such as the Pollution Haven Hypothesis, impact investing with Triodos Bank, budgeting for a solar panel manufacturing company, and Indigenous rights to healthy lands and natural resources.

In my current MSBA studies, I am gaining technical AI and programming skills in data analysis that could assist companies and government agencies to solve sustainability problems.
